PORTLAND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION |
||||
Over the last seven years, the AIA/IDP (American Institute of Architects; Intern Development Program, Portland Chapter) has been running a series of design competitions. The purpose of these competitions is to allow students, interns and artists a venue to express their ideas and create a critical dialogue around current issues in the City of Portland. This is an opportunity for young vibrant minds to cast their ideas into the mix and see what we can stir up. | To receive an entry information packet, a
$35 entry fee must be received prior to it's delivery. If a fee is received prior to 07 March 2002, then a packet shall be mailed to team's primary contact for 14 March 2002 delivery. On 14 March 2002, packets shall be available at the National Conference on the Beginning Design Student, the AIA/PDX and on-line as a pdf. An URL link shall be e-mailed to primary team contact for this pdf at this time if requested. |
This theoretical speculation is being run as a signature project for the Mayor's Design Initiative. The submissions to this charette shall help in the design orientation and formation of a PDC Request of Proposal (RFP). It is theoretical in nature only, and shall not be constructed per this milieu. In the future, as these competitions evolve into "to be constructed" design competitions, their timeline shall expand per international competition standards and become two-phase in nature. Since this is a real project, program and city owned site; it shall be open in the future as a PDC RFP. All materials within this competition packet are based upon actual urban issues and planning documents and/or proposals, but do not imply either approval or bias towards any particular siting or development options by any involved either directly or indirectly. |
